Hurry, catch a glimpse before he disappears...............

You almost missed Keith and his # V-1 streaking down the straight !
Last chance - Just in case you might have missed him
Tony Shaw photo
Keith Fuller with his famous # V-1 & one of the "hottest flatheads ever"
By the way, that all red Ford coupe (# V) in the top photo on this page (between #66 & #40) is another Keith Fuller built race car, driven by Melvin Waning - this was a twin to an earlier # V-1

(By the way, the # 11 car in this picture is the same #11 1940 Plymouth that returned to the
tracks for the start of the 2007 racing season , after being restored by Barry Clukey.
Barry is the present owner/driver)

Tony was too modest to include a photo of his own racecar with his contributions of great historical Maine racing photos. So with that stated, here is a photo of Tonys own racecar, recently on display in Las Vegas
NICE RIDE TONY !! Thanks for all the memories.

Cy Bennett's pickup
"Pappy" Wilcox (#66) on the pole, Rudy Caron in the #7 behind "Pappy" (?), "Bun" Emery in the #40 Buick - third inside, Dave Darveau third outside, Keith Fuller to the rear - - - can anyone identify the 93, this particular P-38, or the #4 ?
Unity's pit with loading ramp far right - note Melvin Waning's #V car on the truck
The # V car was a twin to the # V-1 of the time, also built by Keith Fuller
NO DUST in turns three & four of the 1/2 miler ! These turns still exist!
The beginning of asphalt days at Unity Raceway
A decent field of "early" late models - did they hasten the demise of the "coupe" era? Or was it asphalt ? We may never know exactly what caused our beloved cars to be parked for so long.
HOWEVER ! Of late, it has become quite apparent that the "coupe" era never really did die in the hearts of Maine's early racers and fans and that the fascination and memories of the era remain alive and well; as they have all across the country. And we continue to see positive stirrings in our kids and younger racers ! The spirited passions have clearly reawakened.......the flame reignited ! ! !
"Bug" Hatch's "sweet sixteen" at Unity
Bug's wife Roaine could make this little Ford go too !
